Activated carbon odor filters are extremely useful for eliminating odors present in the air extracted by the extractor fan. How to choose the right filter

For effective air purification, it is important to choose the right extractor, which must be proportional to the filter's capacity: specifically, the filter must have a capacity approximately 20-30% higher than the extractor fan. This prevents the extractor from losing power (which would be overworked if coupled with a filter with too low a capacity) and extends the contact time between the air and the carbon, optimizing its efficiency.

Properties of activated carbon

The filters contain activated carbon, a material consisting mainly of amorphous carbon that has a highly porous structure. Thanks to this feature, the carbon is able to retain almost all organic molecules (such as those responsible for odors) and other particles present in the air.

Construction and operation

Activated carbon filters consist of a hollow outer “cartridge” closed on one side and equipped on the other with a neck or flange that allows it to be connected to flexible ducts. The cartridge walls have a cavity that is filled with activated carbon. When the filter is inserted into the extraction system and connected to an extractor, air is forced through the carbon, which cleans it of unpleasant odors and polluting or harmful particles.
