The name Glycerin derives from the Greek “glaukos” which means sweet. It is a natural and skin-compatible ingredient derived from the saponification of vegetable oil triglycerides. It appears as a dense, odorless, and colorless liquid that has hygroscopic virtues, meaning it is capable of absorbing water and humidity. This property makes it an excellent nutrient and moisturizer for the skin. Glycerin also performs an antiseptic action due to its ability to dehydrate bacteria.

The inflorescences and leaves of lavender are very rich (1%-5%) in a volatile essential oil with a complex composition, consisting of various terpene alcohols. The most important of these is linalool, the essence responsible for the main therapeutic properties of lavender. Lavender possesses purifying, antiseptic, balsamic, and anti-inflammatory properties. For external use, in particular, it exerts a purifying and healing activity. It is indicated for the treatment of seborrhea and dandruff because it stimulates superficial microcirculation.
