The GHE (General Hydroponics Europe) liquid pH test kit allows for pH measurement over a very wide range of pH values between 4.0 and 8.5. The method used is colorimetric, and comparing the color obtained from the chemical reaction is simple thanks to the included color scale, which shows the corresponding concentration values. The pH value provides a measure of the acidity/alkalinity of an aqueous solution and is proportional to the concentration of hydrogen ions. At neutral pH (= 7), water consists of equal parts OH- and H+ ions. Adding an acid or a base to a neutral solution causes an increase in the concentration of H+ or OH- ions, respectively. Strong acids will have pH values between 1 and 3, weak acids between 4 and 6 pH, while weak bases range from 8 to 10 pH, and finally strong bases from 11 to 13 pH. Below a pH value of 7, the solution is considered acidic, while above it, it is considered alkaline (or basic).pH Test Kit Contents
